Battlefield 3 Emerges Victorious as Winner of BAFTA GAME Award of 2011
First-Person Shooter Title Proves There is a New Blockbuster in Town as it Triumphs Over Call of Duty Franchise at the GAME British Academy Video Games Awards
(firmenpresse) - LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM -- (Marketwire) -- 03/19/12 -- With a record breaking 234,000 votes cast, it has been a closely fought and exciting year for the GAME Audience Award at the British Academy Video Games Awards. However, only one game could emerge triumphant in this publically voted category and this year, has been voted winner of the GAME Award of 2011.
In a triumphant first time win for the Battlefield franchise, it beat popular titles including , The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Batman: Arkham City to the top. In an incredibly close battle, the title has also reigned supreme over the long-standing favourite , which has dominated the GAME Audience Award for the last three years.
Since the shortlist was announced in February, Battlefield 3 fans across the UK have been frantically voting for the title in order to beat off stiff competition from other gaming heavyweights. Their loyalty has now paid off with the title being given the ultimate public recognition of being the favourite game of 2011.
