Datoo will be part of the panel "Maps to the Social Media Minefield Part III: Getting Social and Going Mobile: Benefits and Risks of Employee Use of Mobile Devices and Social Media In and Out of the Workplace." A CLE program, the panel takes place on Friday, March 23 at 2:30 pm PDT. Presented by the Cyberspace Law Committee and the Corporate Counsel Committee, the program will review the next wave of issues arising from employee use of the Internet and mobile devices.
The use of laptops, smartphones, tablets, blogs and social media has exploded -- both in and outside of the workplace. Panelists will discuss how IT and legal departments can work together to facilitate the use of mobile devices and social media in and outside of the workplace with changes to existing policies. Additionally, the program will explore some of the specific technologies and tools that can be used to manage mobile devices and their access to the corporate networks. How an employer's promulgation and enforcement of social media policies and its accessing of prospective employees' social media sites can lead to liability under labor and antidiscrimination laws will also be discussed.
