Avascent's Mimi Shieh Named NOVA SHRM Vice President for Special Interest Groups

(firmenpresse) - WASHINGTON, DC -- (Marketwire) -- 03/21/12 -- Avascent's Mimi Shieh has been recently named as the Vice President for Special Interest Groups for the Northern Virginia Society for Human Resource Management (NOVA SHRM). "We're proud of the leading role Mimi has served at Avascent and are pleased that she's taking on a leadership position in the broader HR community," said Steve Irwin, President of Avascent. In her new role, Mimi will help coordinate and promote the efforts of the society's seven special interest groups, which cover issues from Government Contracting to International HR.
Mimi currently serves as Human Resources Director at Avascent, a 2011 winner of Consulting Magazine's "Seven Small Jewels" award. In that capacity, she leads a broad range of initiatives including recruiting and employment, performance management, training and development, compensation and benefits, and employee relations. "Mimi has built the foundation for Avascent's rapid growth through a systems-based approach and a keen understanding of the company's business operations and vision," Steve continued.
Immediately prior to Avascent, Mimi executed the firm's (then DFI Corporate Services) transition in a management buyout from DFI International. Previously, she worked in a technical training firm in North Carolina after serving as a personnel manager at North Carolina State University and a recruiter at Manpower.
Mimi received her Master's in Organizational Management from The George Washington University and her undergraduate degree from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She currently also serves on the Board of NOVA SHRM and also on the leadership committee for the NOVA/Dulles SHRM Mentoring Program.
