Russell Indexes: Positive Gains for the Russell Midcap(R), Russell 2000(R) and the Russell 2500(TM) Indexes YTD and 1 Year as of March 19th, 2012
(firmenpresse) - SEATTLE, WA -- (Marketwire) -- 03/21/12 -- The Russell Midcap® Index, Russell 2000® Index and Russell 2500™ Index posted positive returns for the year-to-date through March 19th and the full year, March 19, 2011 - March 19, 2012.
Looking at sector performance for these three indexes:
The Technology sector within the Russell 2000® Index and the Russell Midcap® Index posted returns greater than (+ 18%) year-to-date through March 19th, 2012.
The Consumer Staples sector within the Russell Midcap® Index (+20.9%) and the Russell 2500 Index (+26.5%) saw strong returns for the one year period March 19th, 2011 - March 19th, 2012.
The Energy sector of all three indexes experienced negative returns in excess of (-4.7%) for the one year period March 19th, 2011 - March 19th, 2012.
