Era Group Announces Appointment of Sten Gustafson as Chief Executive Officer
(firmenpresse) - LAKE CHARLES, LA -- (Marketwire) -- 03/26/12 -- Era Group Inc. ("ERA") today announced that Sten L. Gustafson will join the company as Chief Executive Officer, effective April 1, 2012. Mr. Gustafson comes from Deutsche Bank Securities, where he served as Managing Director and Head of Energy, Americas. Charles Fabrikant, who resigned as President and Chief Executive Officer, will continue to serve as Chairman of Era Group.
"I believe Mr. Gustafson's rich experience in banking, knowledge of finance, and extensive contacts in the energy world will serve ERA well," said Charles Fabrikant, who also serves as Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors and Principal Executive Officer of SEACOR Holdings Inc. (NYSE: CKH), the parent company of Era Group. "Mr. Gustafson and Robert Van de Vuurst, ERA's Chief Operating Officer, have complementary skills and backgrounds and constitute an ideal team for growing ERA."
Mr. Gustafson joins Era Group after a successful 17-year career in energy investment banking, prior to which he also spent several years as a corporate and securities attorney. Most recently, Mr. Gustafson served as Head of Energy, Americas for Deutsche Bank, where he had global responsibility for oilfield services. During his banking career, Mr. Gustafson advised a wide range of energy clients in numerous strategic, debt and equity transactions around the world.
Mr. Gustafson graduated from Rice University with a bachelor's degree in English, and received his law degree from the University of Houston.
Robert Van de Vuurst spent over twenty years specializing in aviation law at Baker Donelson before joining Era in June 2010, first as General Counsel, after which he assumed the position of Chief Operating Officer in February 2011.
Era is one of the largest helicopter operators in the world and the longest serving helicopter transport operator in the United States, which is its primary area of operation. Era also provides helicopter and other related services to third-party helicopter operators in other countries, including Brazil, Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Spain, Indonesia, and India. Era was acquired by SEACOR in 2004 and has conducted its business as the Aviation Services segment of SEACOR.
