MedeFile Iberia S.L. to Market MedeFile's Internet-Enabled Personal Health Record Solutions to Consumers, Healthcare Institutions, Government Agencies and Insurance Companies in Spain

(firmenpresse) - BOCA RATON, FL -- (Marketwire) -- 03/27/12 -- (OTCQB: MDFI) (PINKSHEETS: MDFI), a leader in Internet-enabled Personal Health Record (iPHR) management solutions, today announced that it has agreed to form a 50/50 joint venture (JV) with a group of senior business and marketing executives in Spain to market and distribute MedeFile's iPHR solutions to consumers, healthcare institutions, government agencies and insurance companies in that country. The new joint venture, named MedeFile Iberia S.L., will be based in Madrid.

Led by Carlos Lopez-Ibor Mayor, President of Grupo Wasabi, a global marketing and communications firm with offices in Madrid, Rio de Janeiro, Miami and Lisbon, the JV partner group has agreed to provide the financing necessary to launch MedeFile Iberia S.L.; and MedeFile has agreed to grant the JV an exclusive, irrevocable and perpetual royalty-free license to use, commercialize and market its iPHR solutions to the JV's customers in Spain. The JV Partners and MedeFile International have agreed to share equally in the JV's profits and will each appoint four members to the Board of Directors. In addition, the JV partner group will be granted an exclusive six-month right to form similar 50/50 joint ventures with MedeFile in Switzerland, Holland, Italy and the United Kingdom.

Despite being comprised of 17 autonomous regions which manage their own individual medical care resources and budgets, Spain's single-payer healthcare system is ranked among the best in the world, according to the World Health Organization. Moreover, market research and consulting firm Accenture reports that Spain's healthcare IT infrastructure and overall adoption of advanced technology, such as Electronic Medical Records (EMRs), within the boundaries of its individual regions make it a role model for highly effective regionalized healthcare.

Lopez-Ibor Mayor stated, "There is no question that Spain has been among the most progressive countries in the European Union to engage and adopt innovative technologies as part of the overall healthcare continuum. Nonetheless, when a patient must travel to two or more regions in Spain to receive specialized treatment for a chronic disease or severe illness, the need for a longitudinal PHR containing all actual medical records, irrespective of region, becomes paramount for optimal care delivery and treatment outcomes -- yet there are few, if any, effective PHR products available in Spain. Based on our own independent research, our group is convinced that MedeFile's patient-centric system -- particularly given its multi-lingual platform and secure, robust and user-friendly capabilities -- provides the ideal Internet-enabled PHR solution for healthcare consumers in Spain -- and, in fact, has meaningful appeal for all stakeholders in the healthcare ecosystem throughout the European Union. Consequently, we are very pleased to have formed the first of what we intend to be many joint venture partnerships with MedeFile as we proceed with helping to commercialize this technology worldwide."

"International expansion has long been a goal of MedeFile, which is why we have invested the necessary time and resources to ensure that the MedeFile system is multi-lingual and user-friendly for consumers and care providers, alike, irrespective of where in the world they may reside, work or travel to," noted Kevin Hauser, Chairman, CEO and President of MedeFile. Continuing, he said, "We believe that we found the 'right' partners in Carlos and his team, given their globally respected reputations, healthcare marketing expertise and impressive industry influence in Spain and other countries we are hoping to penetrate with their capable help. I'm looking forward to heading to Spain next month to finalize the JV agreement and move this exciting new venture forward. It's a new day at MedeFile International and this opportunity in Spain marks the launch of an entirely new dimension of potential growth for our Company."

Headquartered in South Florida, MedeFile has developed and globally markets a proprietary, patient-centric, iPHR (Internet-enabled Personal Health Record) system for gathering, digitizing and organizing medical records so that individuals can have a comprehensive record of all of their medical visits. MedeFile's primary product is its web-based MedeFile solution, a highly secure system for gathering, maintaining, accessing and sharing personal medical records. Interoperable with most electronic medical record management systems marketed to the healthcare industry, the MedeFile solution is designed to gather all of its members' actual medical records and create a single, comprehensive Electronic Health Record (EHR) that is accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week by the member and the member's authorized users on any web-enabled device (PC, cell phone, smartphone, e-reader) and portable MedeDrive unit.
