From Lights Off to Pedal Power: Fairmont Dubai and Fairmont Bab Al Bahr Abu Dhabi Hotel Kick Off Earth Hour 2012 With 24 Hours of Cycling and Shutting Off the Lights
(firmenpresse) - ABU DHABI, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES -- (Marketwire) -- 03/27/12 -- Fairmont Dubai and Fairmont Bab Al Bahr are gearing into action for this year's Earth Hour. An annual event for both properties, this year's activities are set to be bigger than ever, as both teams demonstrate their continuing commitment towards environmental sustainability. For the second year in a row, Fairmont Bab Al Bahr, an , plans to go beyond 60 minutes by generating 24 hours of clean, renewable 'green' energy through cycling to further support the biggest climate awareness campaign from the World Wildlife Foundation (WWF), and in neighboring Dubai, the focus will be on environmental education and awareness for guests as well as colleagues.
From 10:30 a.m. on Saturday 31 March to 10:30 a.m. Sunday 1 April, the lobby of the Fairmont Bab Al Bahr, the will be outfitted with stationary bicycles. With the use of dynamo technology and a full 24 hours of cycling shared amongst residents in the community, guests and hotel colleague participants, this 'pedal power' will activate an LED lighting structure, fashioned after the property's iconic façade, with symmetrical LED lights designed to reflect the water patterns of the Abu Dhabi Creek.
Fairmont Bab Al Bahr's sister property, Fairmont Dubai will also be dimming all non-essential lights for 60 minutes on Saturday 31 March, including the hotel's iconic exterior lights. All of the restaurants, from the award winning steakhouse The Exchange Grill to Spectrum on One will offer candle lit dinners, as well as a green "Earthtini" cocktail, especially made for the occasion.
