Shaw Business Signs Deal With BC Biomedical Laboratories
WiFi, Internet and networking services provided to 45 Patient Services Centres
(firmenpresse) - CALGARY, ALBERTA -- (Marketwire) -- 03/27/12 -- Shaw Communications Inc. (TSX: SJR.B) (NYSE: SJR) is excited to announce its agreement to provide BC Biomedical Laboratories Inc. with communications services for their 45 Patient Services Centres located throughout the Lower Mainland of British Columbia.
The multi-year deal will see Shaw Business deploy WiFi in all Patient Services Centres, allowing patients to surf the Internet, check their email and use their mobile devices in BC Biomedical's waiting rooms. Shaw customers visiting Patient Services Centres will benefit from the added feature of experiencing the same Internet speed and data levels that they enjoy at home.
In addition to WiFi services available to customers, Shaw Business will deploy a Corporate Wide Area Network to improve productivity when transferring medical files and images. The Corporate network uses Shaw's latest Ethernet over Docsis (cable) technology, which significantly increases bandwidth and the speed at which files are transferred.

Headquartered in Surrey, BC Biomedical employs more than 700 people and provides services to 8,000 patients per day. The laboratory provides hundreds of different medical diagnosis services in microbiology, hematology, cardiac and chemistry.
