Sarasota Veterinarians Announce Pet Vaccination Awareness Program
(firmenpresse) - SARASOTA, FL -- (Marketwire) -- 03/28/12 -- Bee Ridge Veterinary Clinic in Sarasota, Florida, is encouraging pet owners to keep their pets' vaccinations up to date as part of routine wellcare. According to the animal clinic, immunizations are a safe, affordable and effective way to prevent many common illnesses in pets. The clinic provides full vaccine protocols for new puppies and kittens, as well as regular immunization boosters for adult pets. In addition to the vaccination program, the clinic also offers routine wellness exams, spay and neuter operations, and urgent care for sick animals.
Sarasota veterinarian Dr. Ronni Tudin is encouraging pet owners to vaccinate their pets against common illnesses. Together with the Bee Ridge Veterinary Clinic wellness team, Dr. Tudin is launching a vaccination awareness campaign targeting Sarasota pet owners.
"Keeping pets up to date on is the single most important thing that a pet owner can do protect a pet's long-term health," said Dr. Tudin. "Vaccine protocols are a safe, effective and proven method for preventing serious illness in companion animals."
Bee Ridge Veterinary Clinic provides full vaccination protocols. These include the canine vaccines for DHPP (Distemper, Hepatitis, Parainfluenza and Parvovirus), Coronavirus, Bordetella and Leptospirosis. For felines, these vaccines include FVRCCP (Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, Chlamydia and Panleukopenia) and FELV (for Leukemia). The state of Florida requires both dogs and cats to be vaccinated annually against rabies.
The also provides puppy and kitten shots series. Once a puppy or kitten is weaned from its mother, the young animal will need regular vaccinations every three to four weeks until its immune system has fully matured.
In order for immunizations to be effective, many, including rabies, require annual booster shots. Dr. Tudin and fellow Dr. Robin Sego are reminding pet owners about the importance of keeping these immunizations up to date as part of pet .
"When pet owners move or change vets, it can be easy to lose track of a pet's immunization records," said Dr. Sego. "Unfortunately, this can lead to a lapse in coverage, putting a pet at risk for infectious diseases."
According to the animal clinic, if pet owners are unsure about the state of their pet's vaccination coverage, they should contact their veterinarians. Dr. Tudin says that it is always better to err on the side of caution to keep pets protected. Dr. Tudin also emphasized that vaccinations are not just for pets -- they can also protect their owners, too.
"While many owners understand the importance of rabies vaccination, few realize that other vaccinations also protect against the spread of diseases between pets and their owners," said Dr. Tudin. "For example, Leptospirosis is a communicable disease that can be spread from an infected pet to the pet's family. Vaccine protocols help to prevent this."
The clinic is encouraging pet owners to vaccinate their pets and keep these vaccinations up to date. Pet owners with questions about animal wellcare, including vaccine protocols, may visit the website, to learn more.
