Members of the Association of Edmonton Convention Hotels Do Their Part for the Environment

(firmenpresse) - EDMONTON, ALBERTA -- (Marketwire) -- 03/30/12 -- Members of the Association of Edmonton Convention Hotels participate in Earth Hour activities to show their support in an effort to combat climate change. On Saturday, AECH members will reduce their environmental impact and shut down all non-essential interior and exterior lighting, all administrative office equipment, and some will provide green stay options to guests arriving on March 31.

Robert Blackwell, General Manager of the Delta Edmonton South Hotel and Conference Centre says, "Observing Earth Hour is very important to the members of AECH. This is an opportunity for hotels and convention venues across the city to get involved and to make an impact on our environmental footprint."

Participating hotels and venues include the Varscona and Metterra Hotels on Whyte, the Fairmont Hotel McDonald, the Shaw Conference Centre, the Mayfield, Marriott at River Cree, Four Points by Sheraton Edmonton South, Delta Edmonton Centre Suite Hotel, and Delta Edmonton South Hotel and Conference centre.

From candlelit receptions to "unplugged" live performances, AECH members are supporting the global call to action on climate change.

"AECH members take great pride in Edmonton," says Blackwell. "Participating in this global initiative is the least we can do to help make a positive impact on our environment. It's in the simple steps that we will make the greatest change in our climate."

The works to aid members and industry partners in promoting Edmonton as a destination; keeping members informed of any activities or conditions that impact the meetings and conventions industry and to create an environment productively manage business.
