BrightScope Highlights the Top 25 Chicago Area-Based Companies With the Best 401k Plans
United Airlines Remains No. 1 Plan for Two Years in a Row While Motorola Makes the List for the First Time

This year BrightScope has extended the list to include the top 25 companies.
BrightScope obtains an increasing amount of its data directly from plan sponsors and record keepers, and augments these primary sources with data from publicly available sources such as the Department of Labor and the Securities and Exchange Commission. By analyzing and interpreting this data, BrightScope provides unprecedented transparency into the 401k industry.
"It's great to see that most of the companies that were on the list in 2010 remained on this year's list and many have even improved their rating," said Bryan Lorenz, vice president of data at BrightScope. "It's clear they have continued to focus on plan improvements that will give their employees the ability to reach retirement objectives faster."
Noteworthy findings in the 2012 Top 25 Chicago 401k Plans list include:
United Airlines Plan remains the No. 1 plan in Chicago
Decreases in ranking and rating: Mayer, Brown, Roew & Maw LLP dropped 12 slots to No. 14 with a decrease of one point to 85; A.T. Kearney, Inc. dropped from No. 4 to No. 13, but its rating remained the same; McDermott Will & Emery LLP went from No. 6 to No. 9, but increased its rating to 86 (up one point)
William Blair & Company, LLC jumped from No. 5 to No. 2 and increased its rating to 88 (up 3 points)
The Boeing Company & Consolidated Subsidiaries was included as No. 10 in 2010, but did not make this year's Chicago list because it's now managed out of Seattle
