Eckert & Ziegler BEBIG opens a subsidiary in Brazil

Seneffe, Belgium, April 5, 2012, Eckert & Ziegler BEBIG announced today that the
company has opened a subsidiary in Fortaleza, Brazil, the Eckert & Ziegler BEBIG
do Brasil Ltda.
For several years Eckert & Ziegler BEBIG has been executing sales of its whole
range of products in Latin America from Europe. With its first South America
based subsidiary, the worldwide operating group aimes to enlarge its ability to
satisfy the increasing local demand and further grow the company's brachytherapy
business not only in Brazil but in whole Latin America.
"Latin America is a large, growing market for global radiotherapy with a great
potential and many upcoming projects. Setting up a subsidiary in this region has
been important to have a close and constant approach with our clients and to
offer them the proven BEBIG's quality and best possible service in their mother
tongue. The established subsidiary will help us not only to provide better
technical support but also to intensify the personal relationship with the
customers, which is of a great importance to us", said Abel Luzuriaga, Managing

With its population of close to 500 million people, large parts of Latin America
are facing high incidences of prostate, breast and cervix cancer, which can
perfectly be treated with brachytherapy devices. The demand for radiation
therapy equipments will continue to increase significantly in the upcoming years
given that the governments in the Latin American countries have started to
invest heavily in the modernization and extension of their cancer treatment
infrastructures and to build up an appropriate cancer treatment access to the
population. Private hospitals are also expected to make huge investments in
modernising existing cancer treatment facilities. Brachytherapy offers fast,
reliable and cost-effective solutions.
Together with its local partner, the REM Indústria e Comércio Ltda., which is
specialized in distribution of imported high quality medical products in Brazil,
Eckert & Ziegler BEBIG will attend the SBRT, Brazil's largest radiotherapy
congress, from 20-23 of June 2012 in Curitiba (booth 22/23).
