Swinton Vans Sees an Increase in Minivan Quotes as Drivers Look to Be More Fuel Efficient
(firmenpresse) - MANCHESTER, UNITED KINGDOM -- (Marketwire) -- 04/16/12 -- Swinton Vans, a leading broker of van insurance, has seen an increase of 9% in insurance quotes for minivans, as van drivers look for more fuel efficient vehicles.
As van drivers prepare to be hit by fuel increases imposed by the Government's 2012 budget, more and more van owners are seeking ways to increase fuel efficiency and decrease their insurance premiums.
The minivan is due to make a comeback following the launch of the new Mini Clubvan Concept by BMW at the Geneva Motor Show last month.
Minivans were particularly popular during the 1960s, becoming a staple of small business owners, as well as the likes of the Post Office, the police and the Armed Forces.
Today, they are increasingly being used by small businesses for home catering services, by couriers delivering goods between businesses, and by minivan owners looking to start up their own taxi firm.
Minivans are typically more fuel efficient than the average transit van - which runs at around 34 miles per gallon (mpg) - while the new Mini Clubvan, for example, is predicted to run at 72.4 mpg.
Swinton Vans has found that the minivan is often the more popular choice among van drivers looking to reduce the cost of their premiums, as they can be easier to drive and the possibility of being involved in a collision while driving one is significantly reduced.
Phil Moss, Commercial Vehicle Manager at Swinton Van Insurance, said: "It is hardly surprising that we have seen such an increase in minivan quotes, as more and more van drivers seek to cut their fuel costs following the announcement of the 2012 budget. Insurance quotes for minivans can also be lower than your average transit van, which has meant an increase in their popularity among those seeking to purchase a van for themselves."
