Technology Veteran John Pullen Offers Managed IT Services to Meet Growing Small Business Demand

That's why the longtime technology executive recently opened CMIT Solutions of West Austin to offer managed IT services for small businesses.

Small business owners across the U.S. are spending more every year on technology, from an average of less than $40,000 per year in 2008 to more than $100,000 per year in 2011. Seven of 10 small and medium-sized business owners expected their IT spending to increase in the next year, according to a recent industry survey.
Whether it's removing spyware from laptops or using smartphones for critical business tasks, Pullen knows the challenges facing small business owners. CMIT's local owners are small businesspeople themselves, and they focus almost entirely on clients with fewer than 100 employees.

Pullen moved to Austin in 1978, shortly after earning a mechanical engineering degree from the University of Missouri. Pullen rose to a business unit executive position at IBM before leaving in 1995 for Houston-based BMC Software, where he spent the next 14 years in a variety of sales and management roles before he returned to Austin in 2008.
