Ghidini Light Schiltigheim Commercial Area With Xicato Spot Module
(firmenpresse) - SAN JOSE, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 04/17/12 -- Part of the commercial area of Schiltigheim in Strasbourg, France has been lit with Clessidra luminaires from Ghidini incorporating Xicato Spot Modules.
The Clessidra, a product conceived for multipurpose application for pedestrian and area lighting, combines an understated design using an array of Xicato LED Modules with an optical control system delivering sustained high quality light and a range of appropriate spacial distributions.
Roberto Castellotti, the Ghidini Commercial Director, states: "We feel that there is no reason why sophisticated exterior environments should not have the same qualities of light as are evident in the interior environment."
IKON Design, a UK based design consultancy that specializes in lighting, was commissioned by Ghidini to examine a distinctive design concept for contemporary exterior lighting solutions. Starting with the development of target performance distributions, a concept was developed that allowed the amalgamation of column and fixture into a parallel sided tubular section product.
"Visual simplicity can have many benefits in the built environment" is the opinion of Mike Jankowski, the Principal of IKON Design. He went on to say, "We liked the possibility of having enough initial lumens and good optical control to achieve the envisaged distribution requirements within a uniform diameter from top to bottom."
Throughout the concept generation and realization process, Xicato LED Modules were a conscious choice for Ghidini and IKON Design because of the color consistency, the various lumen output possibilities within the same module geometry and its engineering electro-mechanical adaptability.
One of the first projects for Clessidra is in the architecturally advanced commercial area of Schiltigheim in Strasbourg, France and was specified by light consultants LUMIDESIGN Sarl. Simon Valli, the designer responsible said, "We really appreciated the visually sensitive design approach of the product, but most of all the subtle lighting effect at night that allows the architectural illumination of the building to predominate. Corporate car parking areas, in my opinion, do not have to be illuminated to the levels of urban shopping mall parking lots."
Roberto Castellotti concludes, "Clessidra is a multipurpose concept which we believe offers our customers meaningful lighting solutions for aesthetically sensitive exterior environments that require good color rendering, consistency of color and reliability over life."
