Siemens Marketing opens Art Gallery in Second Life

The virtual company Siemens Marketing Group opens its first art gallery in Second life. The gallery serves as a reference project to show business people, operating a business in San Francisco based Linden Research Inc.’s virtual world called Second Life, how to successfully promote a retail business in a virtual world.
The gallery is located on a “Homestead region” entirely dedicated to the promotion of Siemens.art, the official brand of the project. The region will host two buildings: For one a so-called skybox which is located about 500 meters above the ground. This skybox is designed to portray an abandoned factory and to host mainly photography of the artist Graham Collinson. The building on the ground is an abandoned warehouse on a tropical island and will host erotic art by the same artist and various other artists.
The manager of the gallery is the avatar “Magdalena Siemens”, a well known in-world marketing consultant whose avatar’s last name inspired the name of the virtual company: The Siemens Marketing Group as well as the brand SIEMENS. art. The real world company behind the project is Gibraltar based Brand & Suarez Ltd.
Marketing for the project will include many in-world advertising strategies. This includes a listing in a kiosk system introduced by Sasun Steinbeck, a well known art promoter in Second life. Regular exhibitions on busy locations within Second Life such as the LEA (Linden Endowments of the arts) regions will make the brand know in Second Life.
In addition a blog about art in Second life, together with social media campaigns in Facebook .com, Twitter.com and Xing.com are planned to drive traffic to the location. The art work is also sold on the Second Life marketplace online shop.
