The cashier scans a product, the cash register transmits the basic price to the scale. Up to here, everything is fairly simple. Subsequently, the scale determines the weight, calculates the selling price and sends the data to the receipt printer of the cash register. This is still easy to understand. But before the user can operate the system, conformity assessment procedures (formerly metrological verification by manufacturer) covering the entire POS system procedures have to be followed. And in order to keep everything as simple as possible, Bizerba service comes into play.
"It is essential that the entire network of scale - scanner - cash register works smoothly,e.g. that the cash register's calculations are based on the correct value. There are strict legal requirements here" explains Robert Keller, Director Business Services. "We install the equipment, carry out a legally required conformity assessment and document the acceptance test. Only then the customer is allowed to put the system into operation".
The cooperation with Datalogic started in 2009 covering the Spanish market at first. "Subsequently, the cooperation was expanded to include the French market – other European countries will follow". After initial installation, the Bizerba Service will also be responsible for additional re-verifications (if allowed) as well as for the maintenance of the equipment.
Quite some time ago, Bizerba and Datalogic introduced a similar equipment combination. Bizerba supplies the checkout scale and the scanner comes from Datalogic. The best thing about it: A certified Bizerba software driver allows data to be shown on the cash register display therefore saving the customer a separate scale display.
