(firmenpresse) - SHEDIAC, NEW BRUNSWICK -- (Marketwire) -- 04/19/12 -- Robert Goguen, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Justice and Member of Parliament for Moncton-Riverview-Dieppe, on behalf of the Honourable Rona Ambrose, Minister of Public Works and Government Services and Minister for Status of Women, today announced the completion of the new Public Service Pension Centre building in Shediac, New Brunswick.

"The Government of Canada is pleased to see the completion of the new Public Service Pension Centre building," said MP Goguen. "The new facility will bring Public Service Pension Centre employees together allowing them to serve Canadians more effectively and efficiently, and will reduce costs in the long run."

The new building consolidates pension centre employees in three buildings rather than the current five. This will increase the proximity of employees' workplaces and facilitate the five-year transformation initiative that consists of replacing outdated public service pension systems and centralizing Government of Canada pension administration services.

Once completed, the pension transformation plan is expected to generate $29M in annual cost reduction across government starting in 2016-17.

Public Works and Government Services Canada is modernizing its pension administration services and systems in an effort to increase efficiency, improve client services and generate savings for Canadian taxpayers.
