National Fidelity Mortgage (NFM, Inc.) Endorses "Green Office" Initiatives
Green Initiatives Have Been Shown to Create Healthier, Cleaner, More Sustainable Work Environments While, in Many Cases, Reducing the Cost Associated With Maintaining a Work Space; NFM, Inc. Has Demonstrated Its Support of Green Initiatives by Drastically Reducing Paper Use
(firmenpresse) - LINTHICUM, MD -- (Marketwire) -- 04/25/12 -- National Fidelity Mortgage (NFM, Inc.) has spearheaded a variety of efforts to initiate greener processes into its operational policies. A recent released by FOX Business highlights several different changes that employees can make in an effort to improve the environmentally-friendly nature of the workplace. NFM, Inc. has encouraged these changes, citing several internal adjustments that have been made in accordance with leading green recommendations.
FOX Business suggests that employees, when working together to make small changes in their daily routines, can have a large impact on the environment. These small changes range from incorporating live plants in the workspace to reduce air pollution to utilizing reusable utensils and containers when packing a lunch. Additionally, the aforementioned article encourages turning off lights that are not in use, setting computers to sleep or hibernate instead of using a screen saver, and keeping documents together with paper clips instead of staples.
One of the main ways that offices can embrace green initiatives is to reduce the amount of paper they use. By relying on digital to-do lists, projecting meeting notes instead of printing them, and printing on both sides of the paper, offices can minimize the amount of paper that is not only wasted, but used.
Bernadette Pearson, the HR Director of , notes that the company is committed to incorporating green initiatives into its everyday operations. "NFM, Inc. is dedicated to becoming more 'green,'" commented Pearson. "In 2009 the HR department went to an automated system that allows for employees and managers to take care of HR-related items electronically instead of having to use paper. In addition, NFM, Inc.'s loan operation process went paperless in 2010. We have cut down on paper by roughly 25 percent since our loan operations process went paperless."
According to the previously cited article, reducing the amount of paper used is more environmentally friendly than simply recycling it. Although recycled paper is greener than new paper, it still requires energy to collect and process. Despite this fact, recycled water utilizes up to 55 percent less water than new paper products, as well as 60 to 70 percent less energy during the production phase.
As continues to implement greener processes, the organization knows that it will be able to better equip its employees to provide high-quality, environmentally conscious service that contributes to sustainable business practices.
