Travelodge Opens Its First Hotel in Altrincham
(firmenpresse) - LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM -- (Marketwire) -- 04/27/12 -- Today, the Mayor of Trafford, Councillor Jane Baugh officially opened . The new 91-room property represents a GBP 4.9million investment and has created 25 new jobs within the community. The hotel is located in the landmark Grafton Tower building and will offer rooms from GBP 19.
Altrincham Central Travelodge is part of Altrincham's wider regeneration project which has already attracted new businesses and shops to the area.
Grafton Tower building, an old office block, is the tallest building for five miles and boasts spectacular views across the town and beyond. Rooms from the top floors have views of The Pennines.
Over the past 24 months, Travelodge has invested GBP 24.9 million and created 115 jobs in Greater Manchester. In October 2011 Travelodge opened , a stones throw away from the famous MEN Arena, and Manchester Upper Brook Street hotel next to the Hospital. In November, the opened a 156 room hotel at Salford Quays, near the new home of the BBC at Media City.
The UK fastest growing budget hotel chain also expects to open a further hotel in Manchester City Centre at Piccadilly Gardens. This will be a 157-room property creating 30 new jobs.
This morning, to celebrate the official opening of Travelodge's 501st hotel, The Mayor of Trafford, Jane Baugh officially declared the hotel open for business at an opening ceremony. She also met the hotel team and took a tour of the hotel.
Altrincham Central Travelodge is being managed by local boy Jonathan Hazeldine. Jonathan has been working with Travelodge for four and a half years and grew up in the Altrincham area. After starting his career at Knustford M6 Travelodge as a night receptionist, Jonathan was recognised as a rising star in the company and was promoted to assistant Hotel Manager at Jonathan has now been given this brand new GBP 4.9million hotel to manage.
The hotel's new team of 25 staff members has all been recruited via the Job Centre Plus Scheme - which helps the long term unemployed back into work. As part of their induction training staff members undertook a comprehensive four week training programme at a nearby Travelodge hotel. They also attended a sleep seminar to ensure they are fully equipped to ensure their customers get a good night's sleep.
Jonathan Hazeldine, Altrincham Central Travelodge Hotel Manager said: "Not in my wildest dreams did I think I would one day be making history by opening the first Travelodge hotel in Altrincham especially in a landmark building. Our bookings data shows the hotel is off to a flying start, we are booked out for the Easter holidays and we have been inundated with guest requesting rooms that have views of the beautiful Pennines."
"By attracting new visitors to the town by offering accommodation from GBP 19, we will boost the local economy by over GBP 1 million(i). As our research shows the average Travelodge customer will spend on average GBP 36 a day in local shops, restaurants and bars during their stay."

A Travelodge family room caters for either two adults and two children or three adults. Each room has en-suite facilities with eco-friendly showers, a flat screen TV with 18 free digital channels, free tea and coffee making facilities and Wi-Fi.
