Voice Biometrics Technology Adds Security to Mobile Devices; Speaker Verification Designed With Small Footprint and Low-Power Consumption for Easy Integration Into Mobile Devices

(firmenpresse) - SANTA CLARA, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 05/02/12 -- Today announced the availability of speaker verification for the company's ™ voice recognition and activation products. The text-dependent speaker verification technology creates a unique voiceprint for users, allowing a voice wake-up word to be spoken that both activates the device and verifies the user's identity all in a single command.

For mobile devices (smart phones, tablets, etc.) combining and speaker verification allows the right user to access voice control functions, providing consumers with "truly hands free" control of their mobile devices without the worry of another's voice triggering their device to gain control or data.

Sensory's solution is a sophisticated technology that uses voice biometrics and analysis to authenticate a specific individual. The technology allows users to access their device with just their voice, bypassing the typical 4-digit number manually entered on a screen for access. Sensory's speaker verification solution is text-dependent, requiring the user to speak a predetermined verification and/or wake-up phrase preset by the mobile manufacturer and activated by the user.

"Mobile devices still require tactile interactions before users can enable voice recognition and functions," said Todd Mozer, CEO of Sensory. "Combining voice activation and speaker verification enables mobile devices to be easier, more secure, safer, and more convenient to use and access information."

"Using a unique phrase both for user authentication and as a wake-up word makes a lot of sense from the wireless subscriber's perspective," said Dan Miller, Sr. Analyst at Opus Research. "Rapid, effortless authentication should be a boon to secure mobile search, shopping, banking and protection of personal data on mobile devices."

On mobile devices Sensory's TrulyHandsfree wakeup is architected so it's deeply embedded, implemented on low power chips below the OS layer to reduce power consumption. Speaker verification is accessed in parallel to the wakeup for a seamless user experience. In addition to applications in mobile devices, the speaker verification has numerous applications in robotics, security, home control/virtual assistant, automotive, etc. The technology's small footprint also ensures easy integration into the device hardware.

See demonstrations of Sensory's voice verification and activation technologies at the CTIA Wireless show in New Orleans, May 8-10 on the show floor at booth #4051-M or at the co-located Mobile Focus event on Tuesday, May 8.

The speaker verification is available now for demonstration on Android environments. The speaker verification with TrulyHandsfree voice activation is available for license from Sensory. For more information contact .
