First West Credit Union Welcomes Kelowna Professional to Its Board of Directors

(firmenpresse) - LANGLEY, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- (Marketwire) -- 05/04/12 -- First West Credit Union today announced the appointment of Kelowna resident Robin Middleton to its board of directors, filling a vacancy created in the Valley First region earlier this year.
Middleton's appointment was effective at the end of First West's Valley First regional annual general meeting on May 3. Middleton's term will run until the 2013 AGM, at which point she will have the option of standing for nomination and election as part of First West's regular democratic process.
Middleton is a senior manager with MacKay LLP Chartered Accountants and Business Advisors in Kelowna, and has an extensive background in business and accounting in both the private and public sectors. Middleton also has significant experience in strategic, organizational and operational analysis, program and project analysis, business process design, information technology and internal control. She has twice served as a chief financial officer and was a senior manager in the assurance division of a large national firm. Middleton obtained her Chartered Accountant designation from the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants in 1991.
"We are pleased and feel fortunate that we can welcome Robin to the First West board of directors," says board chair Shawn Neumann. "Her skills, knowledge and experience are an excellent fit with our board and she will be an important asset to the members of our credit union. Robin will play valuable part in shaping our approach as we continue on our journey to reinvent and rethink the way credit unions work in today's world."
Beyond her professional qualifications, Middleton also has a long history of community involvement. Since 1979, she has served as both a volunteer and treasurer for organizations such as UNICEF, the United Way and most recently, Project Literacy in Victoria, B.C. In the Kelowna community, she is actively involved with the Okanagan Mission Rotary Club and currently serves on the Board of Habitat for Humanity.
The vacancy Middleton is filling was created in January 2012 when Valley First region director Colleen Lister resigned from the board for personal reasons.
