After successfully working with the (LADWP) to provide an industry-leading, comprehensive solution, Ricoh marketed their expanded solution set more widely throughout the rapidly changing utilities industry. To do so, they developed the Go Beyond the Meter Campaign, a six-month long outreach and awareness building process that culminated in a multi-day utility industry event at Ricoh's offices in Boulder, Colorado.

Ricoh launched an integrated multi-touch marketing campaign to bring together a select group of utility companies, industry analysts, educators and industry luminaries to facilitate a peer-to-peer discussion that was beneficial to all participants. Topics of discussion included customer engagement, regulation, smart grid implications, customer analytics and others.

This strategic, comprehensive plan built consistent momentum leading up to the event and included a wide range of tactics such as strategic placement of articles in trade publications, a social media campaign that zeroed in on social media channels used by utility industry leaders, online content creation including blog posts, videos and a micro-site, and the creation of an event specific magazine, which contained relevant content from a variety of industry-recognized sources.

As a result, the event was attended by dozens of international utility companies, and yielded increased social media engagement with new targets, produced several thought leadership pieces, event calendar listings, banner ads, and sponsorships. The sales and marketing teams secured multi-million dollars in revenue, which can be directly attributed to the campaign. Further, thanks to the participation of attendees, Ricoh analytical experts created yet another industry-first: Customer Marketing Suite for Utility Companies, an offering of behavior-based predictive models designed to optimize marketing budgets and improve how utility companies communicate with their customers.
