HHS to Outline Biodefense and Public Health Strategy Along With CDC, DOD, FDA and NIAID

(firmenpresse) - WASHINGTON, DC -- (Marketwire) -- 05/08/12 -- Infocast brings its highly acclaimed 10th Annual Biodefense Vaccines & Therapeutics Conference to the Almas Temple Club in Washington, D.C. from June 5-8, 2012. This conference is the ideal venue for participants seeking a role in the national biodefense effort to interact with government representatives and improving the nation's biodefense medical countermeasures pipeline.

In August 2010, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) launched a whole series of initiatives as part of its new strategy for enhancing the country's ability to counter a bioterrorism attack or other emerging public health threats. Working with its partners in the Department of Defense (DOD), the Public Health Emergency Medical Countermeasures Enterprise (PHEMCE) Strategy and Implementation Plan outlines the agency's medical countermeasure (MCM) preparations to respond to public health emergencies, including the status of development and acquisitions of MCMs in the near-, mid-, and long-term.

To get the latest industry intelligence, attend the Biodefense Vaccines & Therapeutics Conference where senior HHS, DOD, CDC, FDA and NIAID representatives will provide progress updates on their agencies' response to chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) threats. Joining Keynote speaker Dr. Gerald W. Parker, Jr., Deputy Assistant to the Secretary of Defense for Chemical and Biological Defense at the Department of Defense, are senior government speakers from CDC, BARDA, DOD, DTRA, FDA, NIAID, JSTO, MIDRP, USAMRIID, and WRAIR.

This year's Conference features insightful pre-conference meetings. First, the "Forum on Drug Resistance and Emerging Infectious Disease: Meeting the Challenge" will tackle the rising global threat of multi-drug resistant organisms and emerging/reemerging infectious diseases. Second, the "Technical Symposium -- Latest Innovative R&D," will have leading researchers highlight their ground-breaking work on dealing with the threats of biothreat agents, multidrug resistance and emerging infectious diseases.
