Capital's cleantech conference for business leaders, closed Friday 5th March
with an award ceremony. H.S.H Prince Albert II of Monaco, after addressing the
audience presented awards to the winner in each category. Sir Stelios
Haji-Ioannu presented the Stelios Award for the Young Cleantech Entrepreneur of
2010. This was CleanEquity Monaco's' third year and the conference continues to
move from strength to strength.
The annual invitation-only event hosted 36 next-generation companies from four
continents, presenting to an audience of over 250 delegates, comprising the
investment, political, industry and media communities.
The programme consisted of numerous investor-grade presentations from innovative
companies, rigorous panel discussions on sustainable infrastructure, the
transitioning auto industry, legislation & carbon markets and cleantech
financing. This year the artist Michael Joo created the awards. Michael was
chosen by Mungo Park, Chairman of Innovator Capital in consultation with Damien
Hirst who had designed the previous years' awards.
The award for Excellence in the Field of Environmental Technology Research went
to Sun Catalytix (USA), an early stage company, focused on energy storage using
a newly deleloped catalyst that mimics photosynthesis.
The award for Excellence in the Field of Environmental Technology Development
went toNovaled AG is a world-class technology provider in organic light-emitting
diode (OLED) technologies.
The award for Excellence in the Field of Environmental Technology
Commercialization went to Oxford Catalysts designs and develops technology for
the production of clean synthetic fuels from both conventional fossil fuels and
renewable sources such as biowaste.
CleanEquity would like to thank Arup and Hugin for their generous and high
quality support given to the event and gratefully acknowledges the hospitality
of the regional host, the Monaco Chamber of Economic Development (CDE). Other
sponsors who generously contributed to the event included: Covington & Burling,
the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation, Philips, the Prince Albert II of Monaco
Foundation, the UNEP Finance Initiative; Invest Securities and EDB Singapore.
International partners aided Innovator Capital in sourcing and screening
companies from around the world. These partners include: Allen & Carron (USA),
Ardour Capital (UK); MC Services (Germany); Navigator Capital Advisors (India)
and Biocode Incubation (Japan).
The conference offered a sneak preview of breathtaking new cleantech
technologies and business opportunities. Details relating to CleanEquity Monaco
