, Material and Technical Support Supplier to , General Contractor for the project, identified key attributes of FIREROK™ cement for meeting demanding job specifications. "The Osprey vertical takeoff demands concrete capable of withstanding 550 degrees F temperatures. We evaluated products that could meet that type of extreme specification. CERATECH's FIREROK™ was the only product we found that met and exceeded those requirements," explained Tres Swann, President, Specialty Products, Inc. He added, "Additional specifications called for long term resistance to hydraulic fluids and other hydrocarbons. FIREROK™'s corrosion resistance was again a perfect match for this extreme military environment."

FIREROK™ cement for structural concrete withstands intermittent temperatures as high as 1850 degrees F, and sustained temperatures up to 570 degrees F, without significant loss of strength. In contrast, portland cement concrete begins to break down when exposed to temperatures above 250 degrees F. All CERATECH cements are comprised of a dense crystalline structure which dramatically improves thermal resistance. The denser bonding also reduces permeability, making them significantly more durable in caustic and corrosive chemical environments.

John Hyman, CERATECH's CEO, explained, "We've had great success in working with the military and the Department of Defense on a number of projects. FIREROK™ is being used at installations in the US, England, and the Mid-east. The combined thermal and corrosion resistance of FIREROK™ makes it a perfect fit for extreme conditions and its durability provides a lifecycle 3-5 times longer than any portland product."

CERATECH's cements consist of 95% recycled fly ash and 5% renewable materials. By comparison, no carbon dioxide is generated in the production of CERATECH cement, while production of portland cement generates about one ton of CO2 for each ton of portland cement produced. For every ton of portland cement displaced by CERATECH, one ton of CO2 is eliminated. CERATECH cements are available as a bulk cement, in super sacks, and as packaged concrete repair mixes.

Founded in 2001 with executive offices in Alexandria, Virginia, and research and development based in Baltimore, Maryland, CERATECH, Inc. has pioneered and commercialized advanced high performing cements using proprietary new chemistry. CERATECH's cement system produces a range of superior concretes fitting every application. More information about CERATECH's cements can be found at , , , and .
