Zack Fight of Kentucky, Wes Parkinson of Michigan Overcome Tornado, Knee Damage to Open Chem-Dry Locations
(firmenpresse) - NASHVILLE, TN -- (Marketwire) -- 05/15/12 -- The two newest members of the Chem-Dry franchise family are longtime small businessmen who fought through injury and natural disaster to open their Chem-Dry locations in areas new to the world's largest carpet cleaner.
Wes Parkinson of Grand Rapids, Mich., was all set to move forward with his training and opening in late spring. Then, a few weeks ago, he tore the anterior cruciate ligament in one of his knees while playing pickup basketball at lunch.
Parkinson plans to open in July now. But the injury hasn't deterred him. "We offer something better," he said. "If I didn't believe in it, I wouldn't do it."
Zack Fight of Madisonville, Ky., just opened his Chem-Dry location in a home damaged by a tornado March 2. Fight's house remained intact, although with roof and siding damage that delayed his opening until late April.
What sealed his decision to buy a Chem-Dry franchise was a call just after the tornado from Bill Knight, Chem-Dry's vice president of franchise development. "That was huge. I hadn't even bought a franchise yet," said Fight, still amazed. "When Bill called, I quit looking at everything else."
Parkinson has owned a title insurance company serving western Michigan for 13 years, but recently decided he wanted another business to fall back on. He said he liked that Chem-Dry's target clientele is similar to his firm's and that Chem-Dry offers plenty of support and training for a low investment -- as low as $41,545.
"The process is not just soaking and steaming, then sucking it back out," Parkinson said. "Chem-Dry's technology is above the competition's."
