Wheelchair Bound Yardley, PA Young Woman With ALS to Host Fun Fair Sunday to Benefit ALS Assn of Greater Philadelphia
May is ALS Awareness Month
(firmenpresse) - YARDLEY, PA -- (Marketwire) -- 05/16/12 -- In the prime of life and at the age of 19, Yardley resident Shelby Rowe found out in January this year that she has ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis). Already confined to a wheelchair and using a breathing apparatus, Shelby is using her life to help others with ALS. On Sunday, May 20, 2012, from 12 noon to 4 pm at her alma mater, Notre Dame High School in Lawrenceville, NJ, Shelby will host a 'Let's end ALS fun fair' benefitting the ALS Association of Greater Philadelphia.
Shelby's goal is to support the regional ALS association for their help and the care she has received, and to also raise awareness of the disease and the search for a cure. The event will feature live music, food, games, and a moon bounce. Admission price is $20/adult, $10/child (ages 5 to 14), and $50/family. Proceeds will benefit the ALS Association of Greater Philadelphia.
Every 90 minutes someone is diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), or Lou Gehrig's Disease, a devastating neuromuscular disease for which there is no effective treatment or cure. The ALS Association is the only national not-for-profit organization dedicated solely to the fight against Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. The Greater Philadelphia Chapter provides support and resources for ALS patients, their families, and caregivers living in the eastern half of Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey, and Delaware. Its services are provided at no cost to any individual living in its service area with a diagnosis of ALS by a qualified neurologist.
