According to a MSNBC news , the guidebook publisher's newest product has touchscreen capabilities similar to the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch. Locally owned eatery Twigs Café Restaurant is confident the technology will greatly benefit Tunkhannock, located in Northeastern Pennsylvania.
The new guidebook has plenty of options for travelers to use. They can bookmark favorite pages, write journal entries and check out hotels or restaurants. Based on the company's Day by Day print series, the initial product covers seven destinations, combining photography, journaling, daily scheduling and pre-trip planning all into one product.
"There are many, many different ways of interacting with the content," said Ensley Eikenbug, associate publisher. "It can take you from thinking about a destination to giving you real, on-the-ground information to providing a place to store the memories of your trip."

They not only want to plan their day, but learn what's happening around them. And with the on-screen real estate, you can display a lot more information than you can on a smartphone."
Consumers are even buying more devices with Wi-Fi connectivity over 3G or 4G capabilities. In 2011, more than 70 percent of tablets shipped were Wi-Fi exclusive, a 60 percent jump from the previous year, Orr said. Wi-Fi devices are more popular because of their price, but statistics indicate shoppers are willing to lose their Internet access during their normal day routine.
