(firmenpresse) - DENVER, CO -- (Marketwire) -- 05/25/12 -- Colorado State Senator Steve King announced today that the Panasonic 3D Innovation Center in Hollywood has released its entire portfolio of Panasonic 3D technologies to King's statewide School Safety Summit initiative that will use immersive and interactive 3D to improve public safety and Homeland Security training in schools.

The next-generation 3D learning system will be made freely available to all Colorado schools to help them adopt the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and the state's School Response Framework as mandated by the Colorado Safe Schools Act.

Developed by the Colorado School Safety Task Force established by King, the stereoscopic 3D system presents school crisis simulations on a screen as large as 200 inches. Live action scenes depicting student violence, an intruder, severe weather, a bus accident, or other all-hazards threats, create for small groups of trainees realistic role-playing experiences testing their ability to save lives while under pressure.

Trainees can respond in real time to what they see by using a smartphone or a SchoolSAFE radio, a low-cost two-way radio that can be temporarily enhanced during an emergency to allow direct communication with first responders.

The contribution from the Panasonic 3D Innovation Center includes technologies for high-definition stereo 3D content creation, 3D Blu-ray disc and cloud distribution, interactive 3D display, 3D high-definition video conferencing, 3D whiteboard instruction, and live multi-camera 3D transmission for improvised simulations at any location.

These technologies can be extended with other installed school safety systems such as Panasonic's classroom alerting devices, security cameras, and digital signage systems.

Panasonic also contributed high-end 3D production and editing services provided by 3DStereoLab, a full-service 3D studio in Los Angeles.

Colorado school districts collaborating with the Task Force in the development of the 3D training system include Douglas County Public Schools, Jefferson County Public Schools, Pueblo School District 70, San Juan BOCES, Boulder Valley School District, and Adams County School District 14.

Using the Task Force strategies and methods, schools and their local response agencies can use the Panasonic-powered 3D system to help increase the effectiveness and reduce the cost of joint safety training, drills and exercises, after-action reports, and follow-up corrective activities.
