Marc 2012 Delivers Dramatic Performance Improvements With Increased Nonlinear Capability Robustness

This new release of Marc provides engineers with significant performance improvements for the desktop and enhanced robustness for a broad range of nonlinear finite element analysis applications. The release will be available for download on May 29th.
The GPGPU (General Purpose Graphics Processing Unit) capability implemented in Marc 2012 helps users take advantage of the graphics processors available on most desktop machines to achieve significantly better performance. This feature, available for Intel-based Windows 64-bit and Linux 64-bit versions, can create performance improvement in the range of 200% to 500%. By using this capability with the DDM parallelization of Marc, users can solve larger problems faster and achieve higher productivity.
Several quality improvements and graphical user interface (GUI) enhancements have been implemented to provide engineers with a more productive experience. This includes enhancements like:
Smarter contact detection at hard edges of shell elements for improved accuracy
Support for multiple failure indices providing users with additional flexibility in failure modeling
Faster dynamic modeling and improved user feedback for actions like duplicate entity removal
