Westeel Wins Steel Tank Institute (STI) Award
First Canadian company to win an STI product award

Westeel, one of Canada's foremost manufacturers of steel storage products, has won the award for Shop Fabricated Atmospheric Tank of the year from the Steel Tank Institute/Steel Plate Fabricators Association. The 2011 Product of the Year Awards, which recognize member companies in specific industry categories, were recently handed out at the STI/SPFA annual meeting.
Manufactured out of Westeel's Tisdale, Saskatchewan plant in conjunction with one of the company's major clients, the award-winning product was one of ten ULC S601-07 triple compartment integral contained fuel storage tanks. The tanks were designed to be used in remote refueling applications, and feature 3 separate compartments, allowing for the storage of different types of fuels at the same location, in a single tank.
Special shipping features of the tank design include swiveling light fixtures and support poles, a flip up stair section, a fold down handrail section and a full catwalk with access stairs, enabling the tank to be delivered to site, set up, and put into service within a minimal time frame.
