Public Hearings on the Proposed Federal Electoral Map: Deadline for Notice of Representation is June 20
(firmenpresse) - ST. JOHN'S, NEWFOUNDLAND AND LABRADOR -- (Marketwire) -- 06/12/12 -- The Federal Electoral Boundaries Commission for Newfoundland and Labrador has proposed a new federal electoral map for consideration at public hearings this summer.
Canada's electoral districts are reviewed every 10 years by independent commissions in each province to account for shifts and growth in the population. These reviews consider population numbers captured in the federal census as well as other important factors, such as communities of interest or identity, and historical and geographic factors.
Your commission is proposing changes to the size, shape or name of five of Newfoundland and Labrador's seven electoral districts, with St. John's South-Mount Pearl and Labrador remaining unchanged.

Residents of Newfoundland and Labrador are invited to share their views on the proposed federal electoral map at the following hearings:
If you wish to make a presentation at a hearing, you are requested to send the commission notice as soon as possible, by e-mail at or by mail (354 Water Street, P.O. Box 1835, St. John's C, St. John's, NL, A1C 5P9). All notices should be received by June 20.
Hearings may be cancelled if no notice of representation is received.
