Industry's Lowest Thermal Resistance Breakthrough Technology Also Improves LEDs Reliability
(firmenpresse) - LAS VEGAS, NV -- (Marketwire) -- 06/14/12 -- Luminus Devices, Inc., the leader in Big Chip LED™ Technology, announced today their latest thermal innovation in packaging technology. This breakthrough technology utilizing proprietary processes, new specialty materials and equipment allows for a 30% reduction in thermal resistance for Luminus Big Chip LED products, which in turn, enables the LED to reach up to 20% higher brightness levels while maintaining current world class reliability during operation.
"This breakthrough allows for a simpler thermal design at the system level, and therefore chips to be driven at higher power in applications where maximum brightness is required, such as projection displays and entertainment," said Arvind Baliga, Vice President of Engineering at Luminus Devices. "The innovation will enable smaller and more cost-effective projector system designs, from small form factor to high brightness data projectors in projection display market segments, as well as high brightness wash lights and spot lights for entertainment."
