As a 30-year veteran in mining safety, Huber will lead an elite team of mine safety professionals and leaders to improve the CMSP certification process and offer his expertise to the International Society of Mine Safety Professionals (ISMSP) board of directors.

"It is an honor to be recognized by my fellow mining professionals and serve in such a high capacity for an organization with a great purpose," Huber said. "I believe the work ISMSP is doing is important to continuously improve the competency, skills and abilities of safety and health professionals worldwide. It is my hope to expand the certification process focus beyond MSHA compliance and include best practice policies for all international mine safety workers."

Created by the ISMSP, the committee is responsible for looking over the CMSP certification process, including: approving and rejecting exam applicants, determining the focus of the exam and supplying questions. As chair, Huber will coordinate and lead all committee meetings while also maintaining communication among its members and reporting to the ISMSP board.

Huber previously held the position of Senior Director of Safety and Health at Barrick Gold Corp, where he was credited for implementing Barrick's Courageous Safety Leadership Program. Huber has since shared this leadership program with safety and health professionals at conferences around the world. In 2009, Huber was presented with the prestigious Highest Degree of Safety Award at the International Society of Mine Safety Professionals Conference. He was presented with a Lifetime Membership to the society the following year.
