(firmenpresse) - LOS ANGELES, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 06/29/12 -- Children often lose as much as one grade level of progress during summer and the National Center for Family Literacy's (NCFL) award-winning Wonderopolis creative learning program addresses the need for summer learning opportunities through hosting 'Camp What A Wonder,' of which Monica Holloway, literacy advocate and autism memoir author of Cowboy & Wills, will serve as a virtual "Camp Counselor" on Thursday, July 5, 2012 via Twitter.

Anticipating 5,000-7,000 campers, 'Camp What A Wonder' is a free, four-week virtual camp from July 2-27 for students, families and teachers, via Twitter ((at)Wonderopolis), featuring podcasts, audio tours, and weekly activities with themes such as 'Creepy Crawling Critters,' 'Campfire Cooking,' 'Spooky Stories,' and 'Craft-A-Palooza.'

Holloway, a NCFL Board Member, will serve as the camp counselor voice for a Campfire Twitter session during 'Spooky Stories' week.

"Wonderopolis is an amazing resource for children. It's a place where creativity and imagination go hand-in-hand with learning," says author Monica Holloway. "Camp What A Wonder is an incredible program to spark much needed learning over summer break and I'm thrilled to be involved."

During 'Spooky Stories' week, Holloway's husband Michael Price, Co-Executive Producer of The Simpsons, will serve as the script-writing voice. Price is also a Board Member of NCFL.

First launched in 2011, the camp drew praise from Parents magazine, Family Circle, People and the San Francisco Chronicle. Staggering statistics and individual stories articulate the need for summer learning programs, and the camp addresses this need by combining the magic of summer camp with the rewards of learning.
