U.S. Concrete to Begin Operating a Second Ready-Mix Plant on Staten Island, New York
(firmenpresse) - EULESS, TX -- (Marketwire) -- 07/16/12 -- U.S. Concrete, Inc. (NASDAQ: USCR) today announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Eastern Concrete Materials, Inc. ("Eastern"), entered into a lease and marketing agreement with Granite Ready Mix, Scara-Mix, Inc. and related companies located at 707 Sharrotts Road on the southwestern side of Staten Island, NY effective July 16, 2012. The leased assets include a NYSDOT- and NYCDOB-approved batch plant that provides concrete for residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects on Staten Island. The company will also market sand, stone, and recycled aggregates on the island.
The Sharrotts Road expansion is part of Eastern's strategy to increase its presence in the New York City metropolitan area as the construction market rebounds. The Granite and Scara-Mix operations will complement Eastern's Master Mix, LLC operation on the northwestern side of Staten Island, enabling the company to optimize its expanded fleet of 30 delivery trucks to provide full service to Staten Island's densely populated northern and southern areas, as well as supplement service to Eastern's nearby New Jersey ready-mix locations.

The company has 95 fixed and 12 portable ready-mixed concrete plants, 7 precast concrete plants and 7 producing-aggregates facilities.
