(firmenpresse) - NORWALK, CT -- (Marketwire) -- 07/17/12 -- University Business magazine and Higher One are honoring eight colleges and universities in the summer 2012 round of their Models of Efficiency program.

The magazine's national recognition program, run in partnership with higher education business solutions provider , honors colleges and universities that streamline operations to deliver superior services while meeting the business and technology challenges of today's campus. The latest honorees are featured in the July/August issue of University Business.

"We launched Models of Efficiency to highlight institutions of higher learning that are creating solutions to common challenges in higher education," says Tim Goral, editor-in-chief of University Business. "We identify schools that have created replicable solutions so that other institutions can learn from them."

Innovations from this round include a more efficient Web-based enterprise asset management system that saved one institution thousands of hours of technical support, an electronic faculty course management system that saved a college over $1 million annually, and a more convenient bookstore purchasing system that eliminated over $40,000 in one university's annual credit card fees.

The summer 2012 honorees are: Iowa State University; Northern Arizona University; Old Dominion University; Northeast Wisconsin Technical College; Texas A&M Health Science Center; California State University, San Bernardino; Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Worldwide Campus; and Western Washington University, which was honored twice for two different departments.

Full descriptions of honorees' projects, as well as those of past rounds and application information for upcoming rounds, can be found at .
