(firmenpresse) - GASPE, QUEBEC -- (Marketwire) -- 07/21/12 -- To mark Canada's Parks Day, Parks Canada and Gaspesian artist Sylvie Gallant (Gallantine) are pleased to launch Gallantine au parc Forillon, a joyous and educational album that transports children to the heart of nature, offering them an intimate connection to Forillon Park's animals.

"This unique collaboration between artist Sylvie Gallant and Forillon National Park will make children and their parents want to celebrate the nature that surrounds them through singing, dancing, and learning," confirms Stephane Marchand, Gaspesie Field Unit superintendent.

Designed for children ages zero to seven, Gallantine au parc Forillon features twelve songs composed by Sylvie Gallant in collaboration with Parks Canada for the lyrics. From percussive rhythms to lullaby to traditional reel, the songs lead children to discover and explore Forillon's natural environment while learning about the importance of environmental protection. The music brings humpback whales, beavers, baby animals, seabirds, biodiversity, as well as Parks Canada's mascot, Parka, to life in a joyous way through the original arrangements of Robert Lafond, who worked many years for the program Sesame Street.

"I love children, nature, and my part of the country. Using my talent to serve them brings me real happiness, and being part of the big Parks Canada family is a true honour. Reaching children through my words and music to show them Forillon Park and nature in a different way was an exciting and challenging adventure that I am extremely proud of," added Sylvie Gallant in reference to her third children's album.

This innovative and creative initiative is part of Parks Canada's efforts to reach Canadian families at home and in their leisure activities, in addition to working with community partners.

Parks Canada works to ensure Canada's historic and natural heritage is protected and, through a network of 43 national parks, 167 national historic sites, and four national marine conservation areas, invites Canadians and people around the world to engage in personal moments of inspiring discovery at our treasured natural and historic places.
