St. Paul Pioneer Press Launches Digital First Media's First Mobile Community Newsroom

(firmenpresse) - NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwire) -- 07/27/12 -- , which operates and , today announced the launch of the TCRover, the St. Paul ' mobile community newsroom, as part of Digital First Media's 14 new community newsroom projects.
Digital First Media announced earlier this year that the Company was launching 14 new community-focused newsroom projects following the Company's successful 2010 launch of its open-to-the-public newsroom at in Torrington, Conn. A Community Media Lab at in Pottstown, Pa. opened earlier this month.
The , a modified Ford Transit Connect wrapped with and Pioneer Press branding, is outfitted with WiFi, a generator, awning, chairs and a pull-down projection screen.

This is a sprawling metro area with two hubs, dozens of widely varying suburban communities and several shared interests, such as the sports teams," said , Digital First Media's Digital Transformation Editor. "With the TCRover, the TwinCities.com staff will be able to engage people where they live and work."
The TCRover's first stop is Mankato, Minn., home of training camp for the Minnesota Vikings. General Assignment Reporter , a member of Digital First Media's ideaLab, and Multimedia Producer will focus their reporting on the fan's perspective -- telling the stories of Vikings fans while also livestreaming press conferences and conducting player interviews. The TCRover will also be available for fans to use laptops, charge their own cellphones at the TCRover's charging station and to follow TwinCities.com news on large-screen displays.
"Our goal is to help people tell their stories themselves if we can," said Chris Clonts, Managing Editor of TwinCities.com and the Pioneer Press. "We'll also show them how to blog, how to interact with our site, even how to do research on topics that interest them."
The TCRover is Digital First Media's first mobile community newsroom. Similar programs will be launching later this year at the San Jose in San Jose, Calif., the in New Haven, Conn., and the in York, Pa.
