Central Illinois service provider leverages MXK to offer residents and
businesses competitive video voice and data services
Oakland, CA - Aug 1, 2012 - Zhone Technologies, Inc.(NASDAQ: ZHNE), a global
leader in FTTx network access solutions, today announced that iTV-3, is
deploying the MXK(TM) platform to expand the company's current fiber network,
providing fast delivery of more affordable triple play services to its
residential and business subscribers.
iTV-3, service provider to Central Illinois since 2010, is building a new, 100
percent FTTH, triple play network to serve the communities of Morton and Pekin,
IL. The new network, managed by the Zhone MXK, passes more than 15,000 homes
providing reliable high-speed Internet access, VoIP and IPTV video services to
its customers.
"Fiber is critical to our new offering, allowing us to keep up with consumer
demand for increased internet speed for streaming of movies or downloading other
high bandwidth content," said Levi Dinkla, vice president of iTV-3. "The
flexibility and scalability of the MXK platform and its ability to provide GPON
connectivity were main reasons Zhone was selected for this deployment. Its
ability to integrate with current systems and provide a smooth implementation
for the network expansion was also key."
Zhone has extensive experience managing the complexity of multi-service access
and, as a result, has built the telecom industry's most comprehensive portfolio
of scalable FTTx solutions. The MXK's feature set aligns well with iTV-3's
specific field requirements, enabling Zhone to provide optimum cost efficiency
and maximum service differentiation in the operator's network in combination
with the zNID Optical Network Terminals (ONTs) that will be installed at the
residence and business sites to support individual subscriber service needs.
