(Toronto, Canada - 02/22/2010) Blue Planet Environmental (Exchange
Frankfurt (FSE), Stock Symbol-9BP) is pleased to announce the initial
shipment of 6,000 Bestway above-ground pools, with Blue Planet's patented
ozonation system, will begin in February, 2010 to a major Canadian retail
chain with over 400 stores across the country, and sales in excess of $10
billion. This shipment is the first stage in introducing these
environmentally friendly pools into Bestway's global sales system. Blue
Planet's proprietary ozonation system will be sold under the name 'Hydro
Force Clear Water System'.
Independent third party testing of Blue Planet's ozone technology verified
its claim to control and maintain bacterial counts at less than 1 copy/ml
of water. The industry standard for 'pool water safe swimming' is
approximately 1,000 copies/ml. In addition, Blue Planet's technology allows
Bestway pool owners to reduce their annual chemical use by up to 70%; and
reduce the incidence of skin irritations and rashes associated with the use
of chlorine and other chemicals.
Consumer testing, carried out by independent third parties, concluded that:
83% of the consumers surveyed preferred the advantages of an ozonation
system; 88% viewed Blue Planet's technology as environmentally innovative;
and 80% found the ozonation system to be exciting.
Bestway Inflatables and Material Corporation, established in 1994, is a
global leader in above-ground pool manufacturing. Bestway is located in
Shanghai, China with a workforce of 8,000, and sales of over $200,000,000
USD. Bestway products are marketed in North America, Australia, Central and
South America, China, Eastern and Western Europe, the Middle East,
Scandinavia, and South East Asia. Bestway above-ground pools are the
preferred industry standard, and the option to in-ground pools.
Blue Planet has granted Bestway a license to use its ozonation technology
for above-ground pools. It is estimated that approximately 900,000 to
1,200,000 pools will have Blue Planet's ozonation technology as its key
selling feature and would represent revenue of between $9.0 million to $12
million over the next 3½ years.
The coupling of Blue Planet ozonation technology with Bestways' marketing
breadth will place both companies in the forefront of developing and
providing environmentally efficient products for recreational use, and
being proactive in dealing with environmental issues.
