PSI receives Contract from leading Chinese Mining Company to provide an
advanced Mining Control System
PSI has been awarded the contract from the Chinese Shenhua Shendong Coal
Group Co., Ltd. (Shendong) for providing the PSImining SCADA-system for
their mines in Inner Mongolia. Task is to integrate a variety of isolated
visualization systems into PSImining. Besides taking over the visualization
tasks PSImining will serve as high level control and automation system as
well as Manufacturing Execution System (MES) for the management of
operations and maintenance. It is the largest multi-million Euro contract
PSI achieved in China to date.
Shendong belongs to China Shenhua Energy Company Limited (Shenhua), one of
the biggest industry groups in China. The Shenhua group is running more
than 30 companies with activities in coal mining, railways for coal
transportation, power plants, port facilities, a shipping fleet and a coal
liquefaction plant. Shendong is the biggest coal company in the Shenhua
group and belongs to the world biggest coal suppliers. Shendong's Bulianta
mine (one of the world's largest underground operations) produced more than
25 million tons of raw coal last year. Several times this mine was breaking
various coal production records. The total annual production of the mines
amounts to 200 million tons of raw coal.
For Shendong, the project awarded to PSI is one step amongst others to
maintain the world class position as coal mining company. PSImining is an
important part for creating the Digital Mine. The Digital Mine considers
operation, automation, security, workforce management as well as related
services as one integrated entity. With this concept, Shendong wants to
improve production efficiency, reduce energy consumption, increase the
level of security for miners and achieve a more comprehensive workforce
management.
There are currently more than ten separate visualization systems mostly
related to machines or mining subsystems. PSImining is not intended to only
replace the current visualization systems but to contribute to the
integration of the different subsystems. This will be the basis for further
high level automation and automated coordination of subsystems. The
operator workplaces of PSImining will be installed in a new control center
from which several mines will be controlled. The control center will follow
PSI's philosophy of providing large overview pictures and an efficient
working environment for the operators. The system will be installed in the
province Inner Mongolia in the northern part of China.
