Offenburg, March, 3rd 2010 - Die MEDICLIN Aktiengesellschaft (MediClin)
increased sales as well as earnings in FY 2009. MediClin achieved revenues
of 470.6 million EUR (2008: 456.8 million EUR) - compared with the previous
year a rise of 3.0%. It achieved a preliminary Group operating result of
17.0 million (2008: 15.8 million EUR). The preliminary comprehensive income
attributable to shareholders of MediClin amounted to 10.3 million EUR
(2008: 7.1 million Euro).
The occupancy rate of 87.1% is about 1 percent above previous year's figure
(2008: 86.2 %)
The occupancy went up in the segments post acute and acute and also in the
business field nursing care. It is favourable that material costs (+1.7%)
and personnel (+2,4%) costs rose less than sales. The material cost quota
was therefore 22.8% (2008: 23.1%), the personnel cost quota 54.2 % (2008:
54.6 %). Other operational expenses increased by 3.0 million EUR up to auf
86.4 million EUR (2008: 83.4 million EUR). About 60% of the increase
resulted from higher maintenance expenses.
On average in 2009 the number of staff accounted in full-time employees was
kept nearly constant by 5,834 full-time employees (2008: 5,816 full-time
employees). Investments (gross additions to property, plant and equipment)
amounted to 18.8 million EUR (2008: 20.0 million EUR). The cash flow from
operating activities increased to 31.2 million EUR (2008: 21.5 Mio. EUR).
The balance press conference and the analyst conference will take place on
March 26, 2010 in Frankfurt. As from that date the Annual Report 2009 will
be available at www.mediclin.de.
