Mesothelioma is a fatal cancer caused by exposure to asbestos. The Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report () series prepared by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), states that during 1999-2005, a total of 18,068 malignant mesothelioma deaths were reported in the United States. This represents approximately 2,000 to 3,000 cases annually, continuing to affect construction workers, US Navy veterans and many others exposed to asbestos before it was partially banned in the early 1990s. Because the disease does not manifest itself for years after exposure, mesothelioma will continue to claim victims for the foreseeable future.
Attorney Stomel holds a bachelor's degree from University of Texas at Austin and a law degree from South Texas College of Law where he graduated cum laude and served as Assistant Editor-in-Chief of South Texas Law Review.
He is licensed to practice in all Texas State Courts, The United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas, and The United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.
