SHSU Named "A Great College To Work For" for Third Consecutive Year
(firmenpresse) - HUNTSVILLE, TX -- (Marketwire) -- 08/13/12 -- For the third year in a row, Sam Houston State University has been named "A Great College To Work For," according to a new survey by The Chronicle of Higher Education.
The results, released Friday (Aug. 10) in The Chronicle's fifth annual report on The Academic Workplace, are based on a survey of approximately 47,000 employees at 294 colleges and universities.
Only 103 institutions achieved "Great College To Work For" recognition for specific best practices and policies. Results are reported for small, medium and large institutions with SHSU included among the large universities with 10,000 or more students.
Sam Houston State University was recognized in five categories this year:
Facilities, workspace and security
Job satisfaction
Work/life balance
Supervisor/department chair relationship
Respect and appreciation
SHSU is also among the 42 institutions named to The Chronicle's "Honor Roll" for receiving high marks in multiple categories.
"We place a tremendous amount of importance on creating an atmosphere in which our faculty and staff feel they can succeed," said SHSU President Dana Gibson. "This, in turn, helps us provide a nurturing and fulfilling learning environment for our students and contributes to Sam Houston State University being a great name in education."
