Install is the software developer's assurance of effortlessly surfing wave after wave of accelerating changes in the Windows eco-system.
Software installed by Install NX is optimized for the controversial new Windows 8 Start Screen. Other installers litter the new Start Screen with shortcuts, which can no longer be grouped together in meaningful folders. Only Install NX is capable of removing unwanted items from this list. Install NX may also mark any shortcut with the "Run as Administrator" setting, necessary for legacy Visual Basic applications which many enterprises rely upon, marking yet another industry exclusive.
Install NX includes a brand new ASP.NET web automation interface, letting software developers produce web sites which build and deliver customized installers, all in response to user clicks on a web page. ASP.NET web automation completely eliminates traditional integration steps which have to be performed manually, and at extra cost -- software bundles with dynamically updated business rules are an ideal use case of this new technology, made possible only with Install NX.
Install NX supports the new ISO/IEC 19770-2:2009 standard for software identification tags, enabling software compliance efforts, also referred to as "software self-instrumentation." Install NX helps software developers obtain the coveted "Designed for Windows 8" logo, automatically code-signing all binaries being packaged in a setup -- thus meeting the new Microsoft logo program requirement. Install NX also adds support for XML XPath queries, another important industry standard.
Among the language innovations offered in Install NX are "For Each...Next" loops, editor bookmarks, and building setups directly as MSI files. Setup projects created by developers using Install NX may now be promoted to template projects for maximizing code re-use. A new .NET Plug-In Bridge helps developers build Install plug-ins from managed code.
The free edition of Install NX integrates with the newly released Visual Studio 2012, automatically building setups from any existing Visual Studio 2012 solution. Install NX may also be used to instantly build any setup project as an App-V application virtualization package, at 1/5th the cost of rival InstallShield's App-V offering. Install NX also includes an App-V Viewer, which is completely unavailable with InstallShield.
