At Enterprise Learning Conference & Expo, Meridian's Vinay Nilakantan Speaks on Mobile Learning

(firmenpresse) - HERNDON, VA -- (Marketwire) -- 08/20/12 -- In a speech next month to attendees of the Enterprise Learning Conference & Expo, Product Development and Research Director will show training specialists how to make a business case for mobile learning. His presentation titled "Training for a Mobile Workforce" outlines a strategy for delivering training to learners on the move.
Nilakantan's remarks will give training specialists a suggested plan and a platform for building the services they need to reach a constantly moving workforce via mobile and social media. PCWorld writes that 80 percent of Baby Boomers and 90 percent of Millennials (those born between 1981 and 2000) in the workforce have a smartphone. This presents both challenges and opportunities, says Nilakantan.
"Training and IT professionals are quickly losing the ability to control what type of mobile platform learners will choose, especially when the population of learners consists of business partners or customers," adds Nilakantan. "If you have a library of training courses that your organization delivers to a laptop, employers now need the services to make these courses equally compelling on a tablet, such as the iPad."
Nilakantan's presentation underscores the importance of enabling organizations to author content once and deploy it on various platforms, integrated into a single learning management system (LMS). Nilakantan also outlines how an effective mobile strategy will support, for example, learners who want to download a course from an LMS to their tablet or smartphone prior to taking a flight, and giving the user a way to complete the course en route. Once their flight lands, they would synchronize their iPad or BlackBerry with their organization's LMS.
According to Nilakantan, creating and delivering a solid mobile learning strategy requires a thorough evaluation of both the services and technologies an organization will need to develop and distribute mobile learning to employees, business partners and customers.
"Mobile learning has become as much about training customers and business partners as employees," says Nilakantan. "The mobile paradigm is increasingly complex and has to include a mobile-learning strategy for the extended enterprise too."
Nilakantan will deliver his remarks on Sep. 26, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at the Innovation Theatre inside the Hyatt Regency in Irvine, Calif.
