Khalkos Exploration Inc.: Up to 35 Grams of Gold per Ton Found on the Nanuq Property in Nunavik, Quebec
(firmenpresse) - MONTREAL, QUEBEC -- (Marketwire) -- 08/22/12 -- Management of KHALKOS EXPLORATION INC. ("Khalkos")(TSX VENTURE: KAS) is pleased to announce the results from its first prospecting campaign recently completed on its Nanuq property, located 40 km south of Salluit, in Nunavik, Quebec. Two grab samples, from two areas 6 km apart, yielded 35 g/t in gold, 39 g/t in silver, 0.1% in copper as well as 6.7 g/t in gold, 27 g/t in silver and 4.4% in copper respectively.
Overall, 24 grab samples out of a total of 169 (14%) graded more than 0.1 g/t in gold. Eight samples (5%) yielded more than 1% in copper and 39 samples (23%) yielded copper grades over 0.1%. Gold is generally associated with copper in quartz veins.
Numerous quartz-carbonate veins or veinlet-vein systems were discovered within outcrops or boulders. Copper minerals such chalcopyrite, malachite and locally azurite were observed in most of the veins. The mineralised zones are mostly exposed over only a few metres on strike, or discontinuously over a few tens of metres, with widths varying from less than a metre to a few metres.
Following an analytical quality control and assurance program, blank samples were added to the 169 samples from the Nanuq property prior to being assayed by ALS Chemex laboratories in Val d'Or, Quebec. Significant assays were repeated in the laboratory. The samples were prepared following ALS Chemex's standard procedures.
