"With the launch of our new website, Albertans will be better able to interact directly with the Commission," said Commissioner John Vertes. "The website provides an excellent opportunity to involve a greater number of Albertans in this important process, regardless of where they live in the province."

Vertes said he wants to see the website used to engage Albertans in the Inquiry, both during its formal consultation phase and during the initial 'fact-finding' period now underway.

"Although our consultation phase does not start until December 2012, I want to ensure that Albertans can learn about the issues being discussed and the options available to them on an ongoing basis. Most importantly, I want them to have an opportunity to share their opinions with us directly as we move forward which is why we've added a mechanism for individuals and organizations to provide submissions to the Inquiry directly online."

"Although our website will not replace traditional in-person hearings, it will present us with innovative choices for interacting with a greater number of Albertans."

Vertes said ongoing information about the Inquiry's research findings, activities and public consultation process will be available on the website in the weeks and months to come.
